Like a fool in love with a moment.Posted: December 8, 2010
Last year, my absolute favorite song was “Meet Me In The City” by The Babies. The simple melodies in the song won me over so strongly that I registered the entire song to memory within my first listen. I loved it so much that I bought the single, put it on mixtapes for friends–hell, I even used it in a public service announcement project I shot for a TV class I was taking last Spring. I bought the “All Things Come To Pass” single and ripped those tracks to my iPod as well. I just love this band so much. Nothing I could say about them would really do justice to the experience of listening to their music. I hope to one day see them play live. That would probably make my year. For those of you who are just tuning in, The Babies is a band comprised of Cassie Ramone (Vivian Girls, Bossy), Kevin Morby (Woods), Nathan Stark (Bent Outta Shape), and Justin Sullivan (Bossy).
Following their release of a couple of great singles, the band is going to be releasing their self-titled debut album on Shrimper Records next year on February 8th. It was recorded by Morby’s Woods band-mate, Jarvis Taveniere. I honestly cannot wait. Check out a new track from the album, “Run Me Over” below. I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for the past few hours. It’s such a powerful tune. I can hear influence from each of the members’ other projects, but at the same time, this feels like a completely new band. Download this track and let it rule your ear drums while you dance around like a fool in love with the moment. The Babies – Run Me Over
