Music Video: LCD Soundsystem – "Drunk Girls"

HOLY SHIT.

It’s difficult to describe how I feel about this music video. I am…baffled, perplexed, dumbfounded, astounded, astonished, –fuck it, I’m impressed.

This video manages to convince the viewer to suspend disbelief. For a good while, you start to worry about James Murphy and his two pals. I’m also quite a big fan of Spike Jonze’s entire body of work and am proud to say that this is nothing short of his usual greatness.

The single that the video is for, “Drunk Girls”, is off of the band’s third LP which is coming out quite soon on DFA Records.

It is called This Is Happening and will be released May 17th.

Animal Collective: "Brothersport" video & a Poll

This band’s music videos never seem to disappoint. I’ve taken a break from paying them much attention because they seem to be absolutely everywhere right now, but I know that if I watch one of their music videos, hell, any of their music videos, I’ll instantly be entranced by whatever twisted visuals I am about to be presented with. The animation reminds me of the many cartoon characters found on the cover of their Animal Crack Box. Simply put, this is a fantastic video.

I’m suddenly struck with an idea for a poll. If Animal Collective decides to make a music video for any of the tracks on their latest EP, Fall Be Kind, if not one for each of them, which would it be?

Submit your answer below. Poll ends when they make another music video.

Sub-question: what do you think would happen in the video? Leave your answers in the comments.

New Vampire Weekend video: Cousins

Vampire Weekend have released the video for the second single from their upcoming album, Contra.

The song is called “Cousins”. The video is amazing. From a filmmaker’s perspective, which I am lucky enough to have, it is a creative production that I wish that I had been a part of.

It’s on the front page of their website. Click the image above to go there.
